About .25-06 Remington Ammunition

The .25-06 started as a wildcat in the early 20th century, made by necking down the 30-06 case to .25 caliber. Remington made it a factory cartridge in 1969, and it remains a favorite for open-country hunting.

Light 75 to 90 grain bullets are built for varmints and coyotes at long range. 100 to 120 grain soft points are the right choice for deer and pronghorn, holding energy well at distance.

The .25-06 shoots flatter than many larger cartridges with recoil comparable to a .270. Match the bullet to the game, and practice at the distances you expect to shoot.

Rifles in .25-06 include the Remington 700, Ruger M77 and Winchester Model 70, typically with longer barrels to make the most of its velocity.
