.270 WSM brings magnum-class velocity to a short-action rifle. It shoots flatter than the .270 Winchester and carries more energy at long range, making it a strong choice for deer, pronghorn and elk in open country. At Gunners Outlet we carry .270 WSM ammunition when available, with hunting loads from leading brands. Order online and we ship fast from our New Hampshire warehouse.
About .270 WSM Ammunition
Winchester introduced the .270 Winchester Short Magnum in 2002 as part of its WSM family. Its short, fat case delivers magnum velocity in a lighter short-action rifle.
Most loads use 130 to 150 grain bullets. The 130 grain is ideal for deer and pronghorn at long range, while 140 to 150 grain bonded bullets are better for elk.
Recoil is stronger than the standard .270 Winchester but manageable. Ammo is less common than .270 Win, so buying a supply of your rifle's preferred load is a good idea.
