About .257 Roberts Ammunition
Ned Roberts developed the .257 Roberts from the 7x57 Mauser case, and Remington introduced it commercially in 1934. It earned a reputation as an accurate, efficient deer cartridge with light recoil.
117 to 120 grain soft points are the classic deer loads. Lighter 87 to 100 grain bullets are used for varmints and pronghorn.
Factory loads are often mild to suit older rifles, and "+P" versions add velocity for modern actions. The .257 Roberts is a great choice for hunters who want accuracy without heavy recoil.
