About .270 Weatherby Magnum Ammunition
Roy Weatherby introduced the .270 Weatherby Magnum in 1943. Like other Weatherby cartridges, it uses a belted case with a distinctive double-radius shoulder to reach high velocities.
130 to 150 grain bullets are the most common. The 130 grain is ideal for deer and pronghorn at long range, while 140 to 150 grain bonded bullets work for elk.
Recoil and ammo cost are higher than .270 Winchester, but for long shots the extra speed means less holdover.
