About .303 British Ammunition

The .303 British was adopted in 1888 and armed British and Commonwealth forces through both World Wars, most famously in the Lee-Enfield rifle. Millions of those rifles remain in collectors' hands, and the cartridge is still produced for them.

174 grain FMJ loads replicate the military Mark VII ball round and are ideal for range shooting with surplus rifles. 150 and 180 grain soft points make the .303 a capable deer and black bear cartridge at moderate range.

Because .303 British uses a rimmed case, it feeds smoothly from Lee-Enfield magazines. Most rifles have bores around .311 to .312 inch, so factory ammo is loaded with the correct bullet diameter. Prvi Partizan brass-cased ammo is also reloadable, which collectors appreciate.

Popular rifles in .303 British include the Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III, No. 4 and No. 5 "Jungle Carbine", as well as some Ross rifles and Bren light machine guns.
