About Subsonic .22 LR
CCI Standard Velocity drives a 40 grain lead round nose at about 1,070 feet per second, just under the speed of sound, and it is a favorite for accuracy and suppressed rifles. CCI Quiet-22 runs much slower for very low noise, ideal for backyard pest control.
Because subsonic loads have less energy, some semi-auto .22s may not cycle Quiet-22 reliably; standard velocity loads usually run fine. Use them inside about 50 yards for pest control.
